I had a thread about this on the old site, but alas Finally received the package from ground control after waiting for over a month (d**n customs and bouncing credit cards...) looks very nice and complete, so that's a good thing after removing the four wheels and fitting the new suspension, the hubs were lower then with the air suspension, so I couldn't get the wheels back on (car was on axle stands, but not sturdy enough to jack 1 side up) so after putting the air suspension back in the front, wheels back on, jacking the rears up, rear wheels on, and then AGAIN replacing the front struts, I was finally done, all in all took me about 6 hours now comes the fun part, I used 4WD struts in the front, and even with the GC coil-overs half way, it sits way higher than with the air susp. for them to be street legal here, the spring are not allowed to be loose with the wheels of the ground, so I have to adjust the springs all the way up, and then it's almost a lift kit! I'm stumped, after not driving my car for over 3 months, spending loads of $$ (or actually euros) it still looks like shit I'm hoping you guys have some advice P.S. I can't get 2WD struts here. P.S.S. it's good to be back, I was starting to miss the XT6 board and it's dedicated group of people

You need a set of very weak springs to add on top of the stiff ones, just enough to hold the springs in place, and colapse when the weight of the car is on them.... And exactly how would thy know that the springs didn't touch when it was in the air anyway?

joost, i probably should know the answer to this, but i don't. i don't get what's going on. you just replaced the struts? what type of struts did you use? remind us the car and 4 lug/5 lug so everyone is thinking about the same thing here.

gary its a 4 lug XT turbo, bone stock. I replaced the stock air suspension with conventional struts, front 4WD struts from a coupe turbo, rear with red Koni's, springs are Ground control adjustables, 300ppi front, 250 ppi rear the front is way too high and the suspension travel is way too short, if I were to adjust the front suspension all the way down, it looks good but has no travel. the rears are oke, just have to flip the top mount. so the front shocks are way too long, if I recall correctly, the 2WD struts are about 5cm shorter then the 4WD shocks, correct? I cannot find 2WD struts here, maybe in germany, and if all else fails I may have to get them from the US (shipping is going to kill me)

XT FWD front and rear struts are in a class of their own concerning length. Had an 85 FWD wagon and FWD turbo XT many years ago. XT was wrecked but had nearly new front and rear struts that I saved. Later I installed them on the wagon. Dropped the wagon down to about one inch from the bump stops. Took them off after a month of bouncing around. My advice is to use FWD XT struts. Everything else will be too long. That $15 set is still active on ebay. If you want. I'll bid on them and ship them to you if I win the auction.

I can paypal you the money when it all comes through, and if someone outbids you, please increase the bid, even if it comes to $50, that would still be a steal! shocks are $200 a piece here so you'll understand my excitement thanks!

What is your maximum bid amount so I know how high to go. Have no idea what shipping will cost and I think if shipped to me first the posted cost was $25. I'll check the auction and put down a small bid and ask if the seller will sip to Denmark.

As for a maximum bid, well, I really need/want them, so even $75 is fine with me, that would still keep it under $200 to get it here and would still be cheap. I think shipping from you to me, would be around $75-100.

USPS just went to international air shipping only, the lowest price is now much higher than it used to be. this is kind of funny, i went to ship a set of rear struts and it was very expensive, about $150 but there were a few other things in the box like rotors (= heavy), so $75-$100 sounds about right. i ended up using a company called ShopUSA to ship them to Germany via freight for far cheaper.

FedEx also ships overseas. USPS uses them for this.

The auction ends tonight and I'll learn then if I got the struts. There is a difference between Denmark and the Netherlands? Never been to Europe other than once for a couple hour refueling stopover.

Just got back from the local post office and UPS. UPS is out. Want way more documentation then I can provide. Certificate of manufacture? You got to be kidding me. USPS gave me an approximation of $75 if the package weighs 15lbs. Found 4 shocks I had ordered for the old Dodge on the carport. Weight was 14 pounds. So I think my guess of 15lbs for the front struts is fairly close. Will let you know tonight how the auction ended.
